Each Being a Disciple Study Tour is led by David Evans, a seasoned expert with decades of experience studying and teaching the Bible in its original context. He has lived in Israel, studied biblical archaeology, and made numerous trips in and out of the country to deepen his understanding of the land and its significance. His extensive knowledge and passion for biblical history make him uniquely qualified to lead a transformative journey.
In addition, every tour includes a government-certified, English-speaking Israeli tour guide who ensures seamless navigation through historical and biblical sites. These guides provide deep geo-political and cultural insights while ensuring the group’s safety and smooth logistics throughout the trip.
Each tour is designed to provide a faith-immersive experience rooted in biblical storytelling and experiential learning. Our tours follow a structured approach, where each location builds upon the last, creating a deeper spiritual journey. The first full day of touring brings us into the Shephelah of Israel to understand what it is like to live at the crossroads of the world. We will visit Tel Gezer, Caesarea Maritima, Mt. Carmel, Tzippori, and end in the tribal lands of Zebulun. At the conclusion of the first day we will understand how believers interact with the world and what it is like to stand up against the empires around you.
The day begins overlooking the sea of Galilee and where Christ lived for 3 years in Capernaum. We then visit the main areas of his ministry (Chorazin, Capernaum, Sermon on the Mount, and Susita). The day ends with a Sunset boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. The focus of the teaching is to understand what it is like to be a disciple of Rabbi Jesus in 1st Century Galilee.
Beginning on the other side of Galilee overlooking the Sea of Galilee, we take a look at Gamla, the home of the Zealots. We also experience a synagogue that Christ would have taught in to better understand his teachings. We then visit the Jordan River for baptisms. The day ends by visiting northern Galilee and Caesarea Philippi and Omrit.
After a devotional along the sea of Galilee, we start our journey to Jerusalem. The first stop will be in Beth She'an, a pagan city, to see how the gospel comes into conflict with the pagan world. We then list Tel Rehov and Elisha's desire for a "double portion," and the oldest city in the world; Jericho. We end the day walking the Old City of Jerusalem and visiting the Western Wall.
This day begins in the beautiful sites of Ein Gedi to hear Christs call to pursue living water. We then visit the ancient fortress of Masada, and the desert dwellings of the Essenes at Qumran and the Dead Sea Scrolls. We end the day relaxing and enjoying floating in the Dead Sea.
We begin the day overlooking the Holy City of Jerusalem on the Mount of Olives. We then follow in the footsteps of Christ's Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. We will stop along the route to see ancient tombs, Gethsemane, and the Church of All Nations. The highlight is to be able to sit under the ancient olive trees for a moment of prayer and reflection. There will also be a time of teaching in an olive grove to hear the story of Christ's night in the garden. We then ascend the Kidron Valley to visit Temple Mount, the Church of St. Anne, and then walk the Via Delarosa.
The morning begins by visiting the Jewish Quarter and the Davidson Archeological Park. We pick up the story of Acts 2 and the day of Pentecost. We will also visit the place of Peter's Denial, the Upper Room, and where Jesus would have been tried. We then walk through the Church of the Holy Sepulcher were Christ would have been crucified, and make our way to the Garden Tomb. The day ends with the final stop on our tour and our final commission at Khirbet Midras.
Flights can be booked to leave late evening the previous day or early morning
Being a Disciple is a ministry dedicated to deepening believers understanding of the Bible through immersive study tours in the Holy Land. Founded by David Evans, who studied biblical archaeology in Israel, our mission is to "go therefore and make disciples of all nations," bringing the stories of the Bible to life through storytelling and contextual teachings.
Since we began Being a Disciple, we have been blessed to lead many tours into Israel, Jordan and Turkey. There is no greater joy than to see believers walk the lands of the Bible and have the stories come alive like never before. Operating a tour company is exciting, but also brings a lot of unknowns. But God has blessed and allowed our ministry to impact groups in ways that we could never have dreamed.
