Definitely a 5-star rating! I’ll start with the people — from the arrival in Tel Aviv to our final dinner together it was a pleasure to meet David and the other group members. We shared laughs and serious discussions during meals and on the road. Many lasting memories.
I also commend David for the depth of our tour experience. He expertly combined the history, archeology, Biblical background, and theology to make every site come alive with relevance and personal application.
This was not a bus ride in Israel. It was a sometimes rigorous study tour with significant spiritual impact. At the end of every uphill trail was a reward - a view or lesson - when I said, ah, this is good!
David stressed he wanted this to be a launch of a spiritual renewal, deeper discipleship and desire to follow the Lord. One immediate impact for me is in my Bible reading. I want to know about the places, which region of the country it is, what people groups lived there, and why it’s significant to the text. And that drives you to deeper study of the text, including words and grammar.
David’s teaching about Jesus’ rabbi/student discipleship model is amazing. Once you learn how Jesus selected and taught his followers you see that thread through all the stories, parables, and miracles.
All of this to say, going to Israel makes the Bible more vibrant as you learn about God’s living Word! Thank you David and Being a Disciple! This was definitely more than a bus ride across the Holy Land.
